January Update!

Another update!

The team is doing great still! No one has gotten sick or hurt! and spirits are still high! Saturday the team helped with 4 weddings. And later that afternoon, they baptized 15 people! praise God! Four of the 15 were newlyweds from the wedding they did earlier. What a great start to a healthy marriage!
On Sunday afternoon the team ty-dyed t-shirts with the orphan kids, they had so much fun, dye was flying all over the place! Later in the evening on Sunday, they led a revival meeting, Mike and Nathan both spoke, and the other team members each got to share as well! There was a large number of salvations that night! Thank you Jesus!
Monday the team went to the school in Gonaives, and Mike met with world food program directors. This could turn into a great opportunity to bring more food to the people we bring care to through Good Shepherd. Tuesday the team was planning on heading to our school in Peru. And they plan to interview several Haitians for both the Nanny's of our orphanage in Marose, as well as , an Orphanage Director. These positions are all very very vital parts of the ministry down there, so please spend some time on your knees about this! Wednesday the team will go to the coast of Gonaives and spend time feeding the poorest of the poor. This is always so impacting, please pray for our team, as this tends to be very heartbreaking.
Mike says the construction for building #3 is going great! the roof is on! And building #2 is going to get some paint on it this week! Construction in Haiti can often work on quite a different schedule than we might think is normal for America, so this is great progress! Also the benches are done being put together for Marose, and they are putting them together for Peru now!
The team is flying home tomorrow! Please pray for smooth travel, and the heavy hearts, as it is so difficult to leave the people in Haiti...

Thank you again so much for all your prayer and support!

january outreach team update

I can't thank you all enough for your prayers and encouragement, it has been so incredible to hear from so many of your love and support this ministry, the team members, and the people of Haiti.
The team went out on Friday to the salt flats on the coast of Gonaives and visited the ministry there, they did not get out to the coast as early as they had planned, so the will be going back to feed the poorest of the poor at the beginning of the week. However, they did stay for dinner there and were able to spend time praying for and encouraging the ministry out there.
Mike spoke to me on the phone, and was so grateful for the health and safety they have been experiencing thus far on the trip, everyone is doing so well.
Sunday mike will preach for the church service in Marose, and Pastor Nathan will travel up north to Peru, and speak at our church there. Please pray that the church services go well, and that God's presence works in the hearts and minds of the people that attend.
In the afternoon the team will have time to do a project with the kids and spend time building relationships with them. And later in the evening, there will be a gathering, and there will be an opportunity to speak for Chris, Caitlin and Phil.
I anticipate a phone call tonight from Mike and will do my best to get an update out to you all some time tomorrow. Thank you again so much for all your prayer and encouragement. It is all so valuable, so coveted, and so priceless!

Blessing,

january outreach team

Hey Friends, Family and Prayer Partners!

This is Jeremiah Leland, I am the missions trip coordinator for new generation Ministries. Right now the internet in our base in Haiti is down, so I will be sending all the updates as I receive them, for the time being.
I spoke with Chris Leland early Thursday morning, and Mike Leland Thursday night. Things are going very well down there. The travel went quite well, as far as travel goes, which is always a huge blessing. The team arrived at the orphanage Wednesday evening and were warmly greeted as usual.
Thursday the team had the pastors association meeting, which went very well. This is always a great teaching time for the local Haitian pastors to learn more about life giving ministry. The team also had a great prayer time later. The Holy Spirit worked very powerful through them. One girl in particular was miraculously healed! After being struck blind a month ago doctors didn't know how to help her and she was not expected to recover. Pastor Nathan laid hands on her and prayed, the Holy Spirit came over her and she was miraculously healed and set free! There was many more miracles that day as well!
The team is building benches during the day. They are also getting ready to paint the new orphanage building soon! They will be heading to the coast to feed the poorest of the poor today. Please pray for our team. This is one of the more difficult/heart breaking parts of our trips. After they have been invited to stay for dinner with the ministry leaders there.
The Haitian people love to plan their weddings and baptisms around our visits, Saturday the Team will be heading up to Peru where there will be four weddings and fifteen baptisms! This will be so much fun for our team and the people!
I will be sending more updates as I get them. Thank you so much for your prayers, they are the most precious gift you can possibly give our team and the people of Haiti.

I will be leaving for Haiti with a team on Tuesday the 18th. Please pray for our safety and our ambassadorship to the Haitian people. We will be visiting all of the schools, feeding the poor, and moving the orphans into our new facility. We will be teaching "Fresh Faith for 2011" to our pastors association. Please pray for us to convey and them to receive the "good news" with power and authority, that Jesus really is who he says he is, and that he really does, even today, do the same compassionate miracles through us , that he did 2,000 years ago.
I am pleased that my wife, Chris will be with me on this trip. Please pray for our children that they do well, and feel secure in Gods grace for them while we are away......................Mike

Haiti up-date, January 2011, ( one year from the devastating earthquake on January 12th 2010)

I don't think that anyone would disagree that 2010 was not a great year for the small, poor country of Haiti. Already being one of the poorest countries in the entire world, on January 12th at proximately 2:30pm, it was rocked by one of the worst natural disasters in modern times, the earthquake killed as many as 230,000 innocent and unsuspecting men, women, and children, and leaving many, many more hurting, homeless, widowed, and orphaned. Even now, a full year later there is very little evidence of any sort of recovery or rebuilding. Later this same year a series of hurricanes created more flooding, more hurting, and send more of the countries precious topsoil out into the sea. Then, in this same year, a national epidemic cholera outbreak struck down over 20,000 people, breaking up even more families. The source of the disease supposedly came from the United Nations Peace Keepers, who are supposed to be there only to help keep a "peaceful oversight," not bring more diseases and more trouble. Then in November, a long awaited, past due election, (if that is what you can call it), comes forth with very suspect results. Not letting the just and the innocent and concerned citizens of Haiti speak through their legal right to vote, and ending in typical corruption and violence once again.
Yes, many if not most around the world would say that Haiti just can't seam to rise above the problems that seem to continually keep them down. Many even wonder if there is anything or any reason to keep trying to help Haiti. Is there even any natural resources worth investing in there?

I SAY YES, THERE IS, The PEOPLE, of Haiti. Yes, the hurting, oppressed, orphaned, unemployed, widowed, diseased, lost, broken, and confused people of Haiti. That is who Jesus came for, and that is who he is sending us out for, yes us.

I strongly believe that this past year has been a time of preparation by God, for the people of Haiti to be much more receptive to the gospel of salvation in the name of Jesus Christ. And I have spoken to many other small ministries such as ours, and they not only agree, but are seeing the evidence. Hundreds and thousands have been coming to a saving grace in our Lord in recent months. I am greatly saddened by the events of 2010, but not despaired. I trust in my Lord, and I have faith that He will do exceedingly and abundantly more than I could ever hope for. And I am hoping for a miracle, thats for sure.............

I have a fresh and vibrant faith for Haiti in 2011, and I would pray that all of you would support me in this. I see a great natural resource in the people of Haiti and so does God. Please pray with me on this anniversary of the devastating earthquake. Please pray for the lost and hurting in Haiti. Please pray for the widows and the orphans in Haiti. Please pray for the church in Haiti. Please pray for the small ministries like ours in Haiti. Please pray for the POWER and AUTHORITY of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords in Haiti. It is a big job, that with man alone would be impossible, but with God all things are possible, and so is Haiti.
Thank you for your continual prayers and support of this ministry. Together we are making a real difference to the people of Haiti....................................Mike
